DEAR PARENTS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! As your returning PTSO President, I am just as concerned about what this school year will look like. We are all still virtual and whether your family continues with that or not once school opens, I want you to know that PTSO supports you and we will continue to support you! We still plan to fund raise in new & exciting ways and we encourage you to join PTSO this year!
So, who and what are the PTSO and what do they do for your Coyote Hills student, teacher, and campus? For those of you who don’t know me yet, I am Rachel Varela, I have a son in 5th grade, a daughter in 1st grade, and two little girls ages 3 & 2!! We have a fantastic board made up of Coyote Hills parents with children in various grades and along with parents who have already signed up for membership this year, we make up the Coyote Hills PTSO. You too can join the PTSO and be a part of the decision making, the fun and the friendships! This is our family’s 3rd year at Coyote Hills and my favorite part so far has been fostering relationships with other parents and watching how the PTSO really does help this wonderful school thrive.
It is our goal within PTSO to promote and support opportunities for families to be effectively involved in their children’s educational lives because children succeed when families, schools, and communities work together. PTSO assists with home/school communication, cares about school safety, and quality teachers. PTSO helps local leaders plan events and involve families with training, tools, and resources within our school community. In previous years, the Coyote Hills PTSO has funded sporting events, supplies in the classroom, state of the art projection and sound system in the auditorium, arts education, student aid and much more, we are excited to try fun new ways to get our families involved virtually!
Our Vision for this year is COVERED. PTSO has got you covered! We stand tall and are ready to be the encouragement, the helping hand, the laugh that you need to continue pressing on! Last year we challenged students and families to GO FIRST, to be the example of kindness in our community. Now that things are a little more challenging, we can use our kindness to check on our fellow families, friends, colleagues and make sure they are covered, keep your eyes open and see how you can be of help to those around you!
Most parents say to me, “I don’t have the time to volunteer or attend the meetings”. My response is always “that’s okay!” Your membership doesn’t commit you to anything but being a part of the school’s PTSO, hop onto a virtual meeting, volunteer the time you do have or attend a fundraiser night! Have a small business, have a BIG business? We want to support you and spread the word! Get your info to us so we can build a school wide database for our PTSO members!
You can pay for your membership via Venmo @CoyoteHills-PTSO)or click the membership tab, there you can pay online through PayPal!!
Your membership helps us bring the school’s children the best possible experiences for their present and future educational needs. I promise to make your PTSO experience fun and hassle free! Sign up Now!
Thank you for your time, for being a present parent and for your dedication to Coyote Hills and its students! I look forward to meeting each of you!
You’re Covered,
Rachel Varela
